The Cross Country teams were in action Saturday morning for the Coach Noffsinger Memorial Invitational and their only home meet of the season. In front of the home crowd the Indians ran some of their best times they've ever ran on the tough course. The boys race got things started and Conner Walser lead the way for the Indians finishing 2nd with a time of 17:53. Walser had a goal to run sub 18 minutes on the course and he was able to achieve that goal as he made it way around the course during a meet one last time. Conner Cline had a big week in practice and it transferred over to the meet as he was able to go sub 21 minutes for the first time this season. Cline looked solid all race and was able to kick his way past two runners on his way to the finish line. Cline finished 23rd with a time of 20:57. Levi Clark continued to have an impressive first high school season as he was able to stay in the top 25 throughout the race. Levi crossed the line just behind Cline in 25th place with a time of 21:08. Clark was only the third freshman to cross the line in the top 25. Scott O'Connor has been having a great season but wasn't his best day due to having leg pain. Scott has not been one to quit and today was no different as he battled through the issues and crossed the finish line in 56th place with a time of 34:01. In the girls race Ava Jefferis continued her streak of great runs as she ran her second fastest time of the season and placed in the top five on the home course for the first time of her career. Jefferis placed 4th with a time of 23:22. The impressive stat is that Ava improved her finishing position by 29 spots from last year to this year on the course. The Indians are back in action next Saturday morning for the Randolph Southern Invitational beginning at 9:00. We want to thank everyone that helped make today possible. Without you volunteering our meeting wouldn't have been possible.
