The boys and girl's teams traveled to Monroe Central on Saturday for the Meister Family Memorial Invitational where they were finally able to compete against the other runners of the county. Ava Jefferies and the girls got the meet started and Ava had another great race for the Indians. Ava started the race near the top 30 and was able to maintain her position throughout the race. Ava took nearly a minute off of her time that she had ran four days prior and was over a minute faster than she was last year. Ava had a solid day finishings 33rd place with a time of 26:06.3. In the boy's race Conner Walser was the first Indian to cross the finish line with a time of 19:19.5 placing 13th. Walser had a goal of starting the race slower than normal then working his way up each mile and he was able to do that coming from nearly 30th place after the first mile to finish in the top 15. Conner Cline battled all day after getting stuck near the back at the start of the race. As Cline came onto the track with 300m left there was a large gap up to the next kid that he could pass. Cline caught up to them with 100m to go and passed both of them at the finish line and placed 57th with a time of 22:47.6. Josiah Bowers took the largest amount of time off from the previous meet. Bowers finished 74th with a time of 26:09.8 taking 58 seconds off of his time that he ran at Union. Josiah ran really well all race maintaining the pace that he needed to better his time and did it as the temperature started going up. The boys and girls will be back in action on Wednesday August 24th in Pendleton for the Arabian Roundup then again on Saturday at Wapahani for the Wapahani Invitational. ** Saturday's meet is at Wapahani High School not at the Muncie Sports Plex and will start at 9:00am**
