The Indian cross country teams traveled to Centerville Saturday morning to run the conference meet in what would be the worst weather of the season to date. Conner Walser running his final TEC meet set a goal to run a PR and work at running a sub 17 race. Walser got off to a great start and was in third after the first mile. With roughly 400 meters to go Walser made a move to get around second and made his way to the finish. After crossing the finish line he not only placed second but inched closer to the sub 17 as he finished with a time of 17:05 earning All-Conference. Bradin Daniels running in his first conference meet and third meet of his career came out and battled his way to a 24th place finish with a time of 19:52. Daniels ran very well while in a pack then got out in no man's land and was stuck running alone. (Unfortunately that happens to everyone and makes it hard to be fast). Conner Cline looked solid all race for the second meet in a row. Once Cline got moving he made his way through the pack and was able to place a solid 30th place with a time of 20:50. This is the part of the season where Conner normally begins to do big things so next week be watching for him. Scott O'Connor continued his great season and was able to stay with a pack for most of the race before having some cramping issues that forced him to fall back some until he worked his way back up and crossed the finish line in 44th place with a time of 25:11. O'Connor has been a huge asset to the team this year and today proved that with his no quit attitude. The boys were without freshman Levi Clark doing to being out of town. In the girls race it was all Ava Jefferis as she took off and battled the lead pack all race. At the first mile Jefferis was in a battle for 5th heading into the woods. Once she reappeared she opened the gap and began working to get a new PR. Ava crossed the finish line in 5th place with a time of 22:21 and earning All-Conference. This was Ava 5th out of the last 6 races that she has been under the 23 minute mark after achieving that only once last season!! The Indians will be back in action next week as they travel to Taylor University for the sectional meet with Boys running at 10:30 followed by the girls.
