Varsity volleyball season comes to end after loss in sectionals

The Lady Indian Varsity volleyball team's season came to an end on Thursday night after a 0-3 loss to Seton Catholic in Sectional 56. Don't let that score or ending fool you - these ladies have improved by leaps and bounds since our first open gym back in June. Mine and Coach Marker's main goal wasn't to win this season. We wanted to create a supportive atmosphere for improvement and betterment of the volleyball program. It has been about willingness to learn, being disciplined, having great sportsmanship and showing the work we have done in the gym. Boy, have these girls hit those goals! Countless time us coaches were approached by opposing coaches or spectators and told how great these girls looked out there - from their positive attitude, talking on the floor, running offense, and playing intensively to the end. The Lady Indians represented RESC well! As coaches it was encouraging to hear this and watch the girls enjoy playing the game of volleyball. It's a bittersweet ending to the season as me and Coach Marker, who also happens to be my mother, reflect on this special honor to coach together for the first time. We want to thank RESC for the opportunity to share our love of volleyball with our student-athletes, parents for entrusting us with your daughters for the past couple months, and our community for supporting us at games and on Facebook. We are encouraged from the growth of this season and are excited about the future of the Union City Volleyball Program!
