It was a good run, but the Union City Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winchester Community. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Union City came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Winchester Community is ranked 98th). Despite the loss, Union City had strong showings from Conner Walser, who scored 19 points, and Trendon Spence , who scored 13 points along with 7 steals. The match was Walser's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zackary Fulk, who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds. Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Winchester Community, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union City won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Knightstown at 7:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Knightstown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday.
