The JH Boys Basketball competed in a JH Tournament on Saturday hosted by UC with three other teams participating: Randolph Southern, Morristown and Daleville. In the 8th grade opening round, Daleville defeated Randolph Southern and UC defeated Morristown 37-29. The Championship game: UC won 61-46 vs Daleville. It was an exciting experience for the Indians, parents and fans! Jose Jimenez-Ulloa started the opening round game, but suffered an ankle sprain; therefore, was unable to play for the remainder of the tournament, but remained a great teammate with his support. Landon Crabtree contributed valuable minutes and continues to improve. Landon is an example of being a great teammate. Keegan Cooper made his presence felt with some key rebounds on both ends of the floor, adding 8 points in the final game. Cale Holt's impact on the game covers every part with blocks, rebounds, alternating the opponent's shots and scoring. Jadden Lopez-Forsythe's energy level is at another level that is rarely observed in sports. A lot of student athletes will talk about "leaving it all on the court" or "on the field", but seldom is it consistently demonstrated, Jadden is the exception. Tayson Barbour continues to improve each week and is growing in his understanding of the game. Tayson has a promising future in high school. Dylan Shinaver has taken on a new role as a point guard with the recent injury of Dash and has done very well. Dylan has the ability to be a floor general during a game. Dylan added 18 points in the final game. The next game for the Indians is Monday evening with a road trip to Shenandoah.
