Union City Indians vs. Tri Titans

By Mike Thornburg | Dec 19, 2023 12:50 PM

If the Union City Indians were feeling good off their 62-37 takedown of the Knightstown Panthers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Union City took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tri on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Union City has scored all season. Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trendon Spence, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Spence 's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Conner Walser was another key contributor, scoring 15 points. It was another big night for Josiah Cox, who scored 34 points along with six rebounds for Tri. That makes it six consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least 25% of Tri's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Melton , who scored five points along with 12 rebounds. Union City's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Tri, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Union City JV squad pulled out a win against Tri 39-29. Union City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southern Wells at 3:00 p.m. at their Holiday Tourney played at home on December 28th.
