The 2024 TEC Conference was held at the Winchester Field House where the Indians had several wrestlers finish 4th place or better. The team performed very well today where they proved that they are not giving up without a fight. Freshman, Jose Angel-Perez finished 4th place in the 106-pound class. Jose worked hard this past week in practice, and it showed today on the mat. Where he competed against some tough opponents. Bradin Daniels was Champion of the 126-pound weight class. Bradin has had an amazing season and is always on point. Bradin's techniques and skill make him a valuable asset to the Indians. Bradin was a semi-state qualifier in the 2023 season, and we are excited to see what he brings to this season as the season advances. Gavin Elmore is a sophomore, Gavin finished 2nd in the 138-pound class. Gavin is a great wrestler and has shown growth through determination and dedication. Gavin looked like all his hard work paid off today on the mat. Wilson Augilar-Mendez finished 6th place in the 144-pound weight class. Despite wrestling up 2 weight classes Wilson showed a lot of heart and strength, Wilson kept a positive attitude on and off the mat. Austin Roth finished 2nd in the150-pound class. Austin had a great attitude all day and finishing 2nd place was a great accomplishment for him as his final match was a very tough match physically. Caiden Roth finished 4th place in the 157-pound weight class. Caiden is a first-year wrestler and has shown a lot of improvement. Caiden's performance today looked like he had been wrestling for years. Felix Nicholas-Cruz finished 3rd for the day for the Indians in the 175-pound class. Felix wrestled strong, and every match he had to work for. His hard work and discipline gave him a strong finish to the day. Finally, Xavier Hill was a 3rd place finisher in the 190-pound weight class. Xavier's first match was against a #1seed wrestler where he fell short his first match, but Xavier worked hard and finished strong in the end. Overall, the team had a great day, finishing 6th place overall, considering they performed with a limited team. The teams hard work in practices is paying off and the coaches are excited to see how next week goes, as the Indians perform in Sections at Jay County High School. Wrestling starts at 8:30 am. Please come and support our Indians.
