Early Saturday morning while many people were sleeping Bradin Daniels was preparing for war at the Fort Wayne Semi-State. Going into the morning we all knew today was going to be Bradin's day and history would be made. While many people may have never thought a kid from Union City could win have never wrestled Bradin. Bradin is the true definition of a warrior who has the best wrestling partners anyone could ask for! Bradin got things started early as he took on Will Hahn from Northwood. Daniels went to work early and was able to walk about with a pin and his first win of the day. Match two also known as the ticket round meant if you win you go to state and if you lose you go home. Bradin was up against Hickson Love of Marion and wrestled a solid match winning 6-0 and advancing to the State Meet. In match three Bradin was up against Delta standout Neal Mosier who is currently ranked 5th in the state. Bradin wrestled a phenomenal match and listened to his coaches and once again after it was all over Bradin had his hand raised and setting up a finals match once again with 18th ranked Cody Rowles of Jay County. The final match of the day saw Bradin and Rowles battle through the first period with Rowles making multiple headlock attempts and Daniels scoring on a takedown. Once the second period started Bradin once again maintained control of the match escaping everything that was thrown at him. Going into the final period everyone was on the edge of their seat and Bradin shined and proved he deserved everything he got today. After the final buzzer Bradin's hand was raised and he became just the 7th ever State Qualifier and first ever Semi-State Champion for Union City! Next Friday Bradin will be wrestling at the Ford Center in Evansville as one of the final 16 126lb wrestlers left attempting to make it to Saturday. We want to thank all of the coaches, family and friends who cheered Bradin on today. We also want to thank teammate Gavin Elmore for being Bradin's warmup partner today and helping him get ready. Congratulations to the Union City Girls Basketball team on winning their Regional game and advancing to Semi-State!
