Track season gets started at Greenville Invitational

The Indians track teams got their season started Friday night at the Greenville Invitational and came away with great performances. While the Indians were coming off of spring break the Ohio teams competing were competing in their 3rd or 4th meet of the outdoor season. Jayson Connor got things started for the Indians in the 110mh as he crossed the finish line in first in a field of nearly 20 runners. Luis Nieto ran a great 110mh race competing at the high school level for the first time finishing 13th. The 4x100 team of Alec Spence, Jackson Cowper, Colton Emrick and Conner Walser competed for the first time together and came away with a solid performance finishing 5th with a time of 47.22. The boys 4x4 team of Alec Spence, Jackson Cowper, Colton Emrick and Conner Walser finished the night off with a big run and beating their goal time to start the season. All four guys set out to run under 3:45 and after it was over they crossed the finish line with a 2nd place and a time of 3:41. In Shot Put and Discus Michael Miller and Brayden Timmerman battle with each other while competing and Friday night was no different. In the Shot Put it was Brayden Timmerman finishing 16th and Miller wasn't far behind finishing 19th. In Discus Brayden set a new PR with a throw of 91'11 to place in the top 15. Michael wasn't far behind once again as he placed 23rd for the Indians. Maegan Dickmann got things started for the girls in the 100mh. Not her best performances but a great start to the season. In the 100m Dash it was Emmi Kreiner, Allyson Carter and Novah Mote. This week Emmi was the quick girl for the Indians but I see that changing all year long between this group. Emmi placed 16th, Allyson 18th, Novah 22nd. The 4x1 relay team of Sofia Emrick, Allyson Carter, Emmi Kreiner and Novah Mote exceeded their expectations for the first meet. The girls went out and ran to a 6th place finish with a time of 59.93. Allyson Carter placed 9th in a tough field of girls in the 800m. After the nerves settled she got comfortable and started making some moves on the final lap to get the top 10 finish.
