BY RICK REED News-Gazette Sports Editor Opportunity knocks on Friday for the Indians as they face a winless Knightstown team (0-3) that is scoring just 17 points a game and surrendering 35. It's "Senior Night," so the Indians should be plenty fired up against the Panthers. Junior Alex Spence will be the likely quarterback for Keith Maloy's troops after freshman Jayson Connor suffered a broken collarbone in last week's game at Hagerstown and is likely out the for the season. Knightstown, a relative newcomer to the TEC, has a 5-1 series edge in this Tri-Eastern Conference matchup, but the Indians rolled to a 62-0 victory last season in a game that Blayne Daniels rushed for 160 yards and four touchdowns. But Daniels has graduated, and with him the team's big weapon. Perhaps more than anything, the Indians need to find someone who can be a big weapon. After three games, the team's top rusher is sophomore Braden Daniels, who has 93 yards. The top receiver has been Brayden Huggins, who has five catches for 87 yards. Defensively, the Indians must get better. You won't win many ball games giving up 54 points a game, which is what they average giving up after three contests. But the Indians are young – they will get better. It make take some time.
