Lady Indians battle at Ansonia

The boys and girls track teams competed at Ansonia on Tuesday night against Ansonia, Preble Shawnee and Troy Christian and came away with great performances as well as many bright spots as there were some in events for the first time and LuLu competing in a track meet for the first time ever. In the girls meet there were some big improvements from last season and it all started with having a bigger team than in the past and they were able to compete very well against the competition while missing Maegan Dickmann. Competing in her first meet of the season Campbell Kerns got things started for the Indians in the 100mh. Campbell ran a solid race finishing 8th for the Indians while also making large strides in her goals for the season. Campbell also competed in long jump for the girls and was able to walk away with a 10th place finish. LuLu was next for the Indians running the 100m dash and in her first ever track meet and was able to finish 8th in a field of 18 girls. LuLu also had a great solid race in the 200m dash as she placed 7th before helping the girls 4x1 and 4x4 relay teams to great finishes after not having relay teams the past couple of years. Allyson Carter once again had a solid meet for the girl’s team as she competed in the 100m, 800m and both relays. Allyson placed 14th in the 100m before running a solid race and placing 4th in the 800m. Emmi Kreiner had a great day running the 200m and setting a new PR and a 4th place finish. Emmi was also a vital part for the Indians in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Sofia Emrick was next for the Indian girls who had a PR day. Sofia placed 14th in the 400m then taking on the 200m and taking off nearly a second from her previous time and placing 15th. Nova Mote was the next one to have a big day as she helped the girls in the 4x100 the followed it up with a new PR in long jump and a 7th place finish. Ava Jefferis competing in her first meet of the year was ready to battle in the 1600m and in doing so she took off 12 seconds from a year ago at the meet and in doing so she placed 2nd for the Indians. Ava then lined up for the 800m run and was able to just shy of her time last season and placed 5th. Ava was also the 3rd leg in the girls 4x4 relay.
