The Indians boys track team traveled through the flood waters on Thursday to Wapahani for a five way track meet against Wapahani, Blue River, Blackford and Seton Catholic. All of the boys competed very well against some of the best competition they have faced this season and when it was over we were all glad to be finished with the meet and healthy to compete on Saturday morning. Luis Nieto was able to run his second best time of the year in the 110mh as he battled against a group of stand out hurdlers and was able to cross the line with a 9th place finish. In the 100m dash Wilson Mendez-Aguliar, Scott O'Connor and Kolton Mills took the track and all three runners crossed the line in 10th, 11th, 12th. Scott O'Connor was next up for the Indians as he took off in the 1600m run and was able to come away with a 10th place finish but more importantly run his second best time of the season. The 4x100 relay team of Alec Spence, Jackson Cowper, Colton Emrick and Conner Walser took the track and while it wasn't their best race of the season they were able to continue improving and crossed the finish line in 3rd. Alec Spence and Wilson Mendez-Aguliar were next taking on the 400m dash. Spence ran to a 4th place finish while Wilson was able to cross the line in 7th place in just his first meet of the season. Joseangel Perez-Contreres running in his first meet of the season tackled the 800m run and was finished in 8th place and the highest placing freshman in the event. Jackson Cowper and Grant Elliott were next in the 200m in a race that nearly 20 runners and high winds both runners came away with top 16 place finishes. Cowper running the 200m for the first time this season was able to cross with a 7th place finish while Elliott placed 16th. The 4x400 relay team of Spence, Cowper, Emrick and Walser closed out the night as they battled to a second place finish. The 4x4 relay B team of Mills, Perez, Aguliar and O'Connor also ran a great race as all four runners were running the race for the first time placing 8th. Michael Miller, Brayden Timmerman and Kolton Mills did battle in shot and discus as they battled the mud and a field of 25 throwers in both shot and discus. In shot all three Indian throwers proved that they are able to compete and have made huge strides this season placing in the top 7.
