Indians battle to 4th place finish at Randolph Southern

The boys track team traveled to Randolph Southern on Saturday for the small school invite and came away with a 4th place finish. There were a lot of great performances on Saturday but the biggest PR of the day went to Grant Elliott who not only set a new PR in the 200m dash but also leaped to 5'8 in high jump to place third. Luis Nieto continued to improve in the 110mh as he placed 6th in a very tough group of hurdlers from the area. In the 100m dash it was Colton Emrick and Kolton Mills lining up and once they crossed the finish line they achieved new PR's for the Indians. Emrick crossed the line in 8th and Mills placing 11th for the Indians. In the 1600m Scott O'Connor placed 13th for the Indians and was able to run his second best race of the season where he was competing against one of the top 1600m runners in the state from Wapahanai. The boys 4x100 relay team of Alec Spence, Jackson Cowper, Colton Emrick and Conner Walser placed 4th just missing out on a top 3 finish. Alec Spence and Wilson Mendez-Aguliar were next in the 400 and were both able to score points for the team against 12 other runners. Spence placed 2nd while Wilson crossed the line in 7th. Wilson Mendez-Aguliar and Scott O'Connor were next in the 800m run having great racing and placing in the top 13. Wilson placed 10th and O'Connor placing 13th. In the 200m it was Jackson Cowper and Grant Elliott battling for the Indians and both crossing the finish line with new PR finishes. Cowper placed 6th and Elliott placing 11th. The 4x400 relay team ran their second best time of the season and placed second just missing first place by less than a second. Grant Elliott set a new PR in high jump and beat his previous best by 4 inches. Elliott was able to work his way up to a 3rd place finish. Michael Miller and Brayden Timmerman lead the Indians in Shot Put and Miller had his farthest throw of the season and took home 3rd while Timmerman who was feeling under the weather placed 9th for the Indians. In Discus Brayden Timmerman and Kolton Mills threw nearly the same distance as each other. It wasn't the best day for either thrower but both were able to place in the top 11. Timmerman placed 10th and Mills placed 11th. In long jump it was Conner Walser and Jackson Cowper representing the Indians and bringing home top 5 finishes. Walser was able to battle his way to a 3rd place finish while Cowper placed 5th.
