Thursday night at the Randolph Eastern School Corporations board meeting the school board approved the hiring of 2 new varsity head coaches. UC Athletics is proud to announce that Union City graduate Emily Livingston will be taking over as the new varsity head coach for Union City Volleyball. Coach Livingston brings with her a wealth of knowledge that she has gained over the last few years. Coach Livingston graduated from Union City in 2022 where she was a multi-sport athlete. The last few years she has been an assistant coach under her coach and mentor Coach Sarah Black with the Lady Indians Basketball program. “I’ve always been passionate about Union City athletics. As a student athlete I saw the impact great coaching can have on a program. I am excited to elevate Union City volleyball to reach its full potential and be as successful as I know it can be.” “Coach Livingston has been a huge part of our school corporation and our community for quite some time. She connects well with our student athletes, and she understands what it takes to coach here at Union City. Coach Livingston embodies the Indian Way, and we are excited to have her work with our student athletes to further their academic and athletic dreams” Keith Maloy AD UC Athletics is proud to announce that Union City graduate Kyler Purdin will be taking over as the new varsity football coach at Union City. Coach Purdin will be filling the void that was left when previous head coach Keith Maloy was appointed as the new Athletic Director at Union City. Coach Purdin graduated from Union City in 2018. He has been a staple on the sideline for the Indians since he started as the ball boy when he was 9 years old. The last several years he has been an assistant coach for the Indian football program and will hit the ground running as the new head coach. “I want to thank God for this opportunity to be the Head Football Coach at Union City. Ever since the Second Grade I have dreamed of leading this team. I cannot promise wins or losses, but what I can promise is that the young men on my team will be great sons, neighbors, and students. I look forward to many years of Indian Football.” Coach Purdin “Coach Purdin has been a part of my life since he was 9 years old. Our relationship has evolved over the years from ball boy to player to assistant coach to teaching colleagues and now to head coach and athletic director. I am excited for him, and I am excited for our football program.” Keith Maloy AD Union City athletics is committed to providing the very best for our student athletes. The hiring of these two individuals aligns with this goal. Stay tuned for what the future holds for these lifelong Indians.
