The Indian boys and girls cross country teams took the long trip to Pendleton Heights on Wednesday for the Arabian Roundup cross country invitational and came away with some of their best times of the season up to this point. The girls got things started after the race was delayed due to the heat and Ava Jefferis lead the way for the Indians placing 19th. Ava was just 13 seconds away from her best time on the course from last year but was able to better her placing in the meet by 13 places and was the fourth finisher from Randolph County. Campbell Kerns running in just her second meet in high school was the next finisher for the Indians and was able to battle to a 66th place finish for the Indians. Kerns had a great start once again and was able to make some passes throughout the race and finished just shy of her season best time for the year. Kara Walser once again had a great start for the Indians and made some big passes in the first two miles and while it wasn't her best time of the season Walser continued to be a big part of the team showing that she is able to compete with the girls from the bigger schools crossing the finish line in 69th place. Jackson Liss lined up for the Indians in the boys race and while running his biggest meet of the season was able to also run his best race of the year. Jackson battled throughout the meet making passes and keeping people near him and with that was able to take 37 seconds off of his time that he ran on Saturday morning. Jackson placed 79th place for the Indians but most importantly was able to stay close to the other Randolph County runners as everyone continues to work hard to get ready for the county meet. The Indians are back in action on Saturday morning at the Greenville City Park for the Treaty City Invitational Schedule of events: 8:45am HS Boys 9:15am HS Girls 11am JH Boys 11:30 JH Girls ** We also still need help from parents or students to work at our home meet on September 7th.
