The JH Cross Country teams traveled to Centerville Saturday morning for one final meet and one of the most important meets of the season as they were representing Union City against the rest of the schools in the conference. Christiana Teegarden, Aleah Lacy and Sophia Kobus lined up for the Indians to battle on the 3000m course. Christiana Teegarden lead the Indians and gave it everything she had to earn All-Conference honors placing 10th for the Indians with a new PR of 12:37 and bettering her time from the last time on the course by 30 seconds. Aleah Lacy was the next Indian to cross the finish line placing 42nd with a time of 15:35 and her best race of the season after dealing with a knee injury for most of the season. Lacy was also 30 seconds better than she was on the course September 21st. Sophia Kobus rounded out the day for the Indian girls placing 59th with a time of 19:52. Kobus finished the season by taking roughly two minutes off of her time after starting late in the season. In the Boys race it was Xander Elkins, Mikkel Hartman, Reid Kerns, Rowan Jones and Brantlee Kobus lined up to represent the Indians. Xander Elkins lead the way this time of Mikkel Hartman. Elkins placed 15th and crossed the finish line in 12:32 and just missing out on a new PR. Mikkel Hartman was the next Indian to cross the finish line placing 18th with a time of 12:43. Hartman has been huge for the team this year and took off one minute and four seconds from the time he ran last year. Reid Kerns was the next Indian crossing the finish line in 28th with a time of 13:27. While it wasn't a PR for Kerns he has proved himself as a runner all season and showed that he is going to be a great runner with time. Rowan Jones has turned into an impressive 6th grade runner this season. Jones crossed the finish line in 49th place with a time of 16:41. What most impressive is that Rowan has taken nearly four minutes off of his time since the beginning of the season. Brantlee Kobus rounded out the scoring for the boys team. Kobus crossed the finish line in 59th place with a time of 22:00. Kobus is another 6th grader that with time will great for the Indians. It has been great watching all of these kids grow and in the short time I've gotten to be around some of them they have showed the are willing to work hard and the are all respectful kids. We all hope to see you representing Union City in other sports this school year!!
