Ava Jefferis lined up today at Huntington University for the New Haven Regional meet for her biggest race of her career with it possibly being her last as an Indian and she gave it everything she had finishing 122nd place with a time of 21:52. Once the gun went off and everyone running it became almost impossible to pass but Ava battled right with the top 100 girls all the way to the finish line where she was was met by her biggest supporters. Four years ago Ava Jefferis began her high school cross country career with a time of 27:51 and at that point she could have been an ordinary runner but she dug deep and gave it everything she had and became an extraordinary runner! By the end of the first season she had ran a sub 24 minute 5k to earn All-County running a 23:10 then later in the year advanced to the Regional meet Sophomore year saw Ava improve even more with the help of the team and by pushing herself. Ava once again earned All-County and became a Regional Qualifier. Ava's season best was a 22:13. Ava's junior year is when she turned the corner setting a new best time of 21:44 at the Delta Sectional to advance to the Regional once again. Jefferis also earned All-County and All-Conference during the season. This final season Ava was ahead of the game when the season started and it showed all season. By the end of the season Ava once again earned All-County, All-Conference and became a 4x Regional Qualifier with a new personal best time of 21:16 and more importantly made all of her teammates better.
