Lady Indians finish track season at Delta

The lady Indians traveled to Delta High School on Tuesday for the sectional meet to take on the top athletes in the area as well as the state. Unfortunately the season came to an end for all of the girls but they all did very well and kept their heads up knowing that they are a very small and young team. Campbell Kerns got things started for the Indians as long jump and the 100mh trials began at the same time. Campbell finished 6th in her heat then continued to do long jump finishing 14th for the team. Maegan Dickmann was in heat two of the 100mh trials with hopes of advancing to the finals and avenging her loss to the same girl the past two weeks. Maegan did both as she crossed the line in second to advance to the big show. Her placing and time was enough to put her ahead of the girl that had previously beat her. Maegan went onto the finals and placed 8th for the Indians. Ava Jefferis was the distance runner for the night as she ran both the 1600m and 800m races. Both times Ava ran close to her best race of the season all while racing a very tough group of girls. Ava finished 15th in the 1600m then after a short break finished 19th in the 800m. Camille Helmick lined up in the 300mh and ran her second best race of her running career just missing her best time by under one second. Meet Results: 100mh: 8th Maegan Dickmann, 15th Campbell Kerns 1600m: 15th Ava Jefferis 300mh: 16th Maegan Dickmann, 18th Camille Helmick LJ: 14th Campbell Kerns It was a very fun season and we as coaches couldn't have asked for a better group of girls to coach. We all want to thank everyone that supported the girls and look forward to next season and hopefully will have even more girls out for the team!
